Fundraise Your Way to PowerShift

If you are coming from far away, getting to PowerShift from across the country can be expensive!  The first step to fundraising your way to get here is getting connected with others in your community so you can book a bus together, get group travel deals, or pool your fundraising effors.  Either on your own or together with a regional team, here are some ways to raise funds to get to PowerShift:

  • Take part in our blogging contest to win FREE REGISTRAION!
  • Are you a member of a union, students' union, or religious community? Is there a Public Intrest Research Group (PIRG) or other community organisation near by? These types of organisations often support their members of people in their community to attend conferences or gatherings like PowerShift.  Apply to them to try and get some funding; they often have a dedicated form for this purpose and the earlier you request funds the better. Here are sample answers to questions they may ask you in PDF and DOC format.
  • Does your friends or family exchange gifts for birthdays or other holidays? You could ask for your gift early this year in the form of funds or a train ticket to help you get to PowerShift!
  • Throw a fundraiser dinner, show, party, movie screening, pancake breakfast, or other event!  It could be a great opportunity to get the word out about PowerShift and issues you are passionate about, while also getting funds.

Good luck!  If you need any specific support you can contact powershift.coordinator@gmail.com.

Youth from impacted communities who are facing additional barriers finding funding to come to PowerShift are encouraged to apply for our Frontline Youth Scholarship Fund.
