This Labour Day, let's reflect on how our struggles are bound together! From Argentina to Ontario, workers are at the at the forefront of social change across the world!

At the root of both the attack on workers and of the climate crisis is a neo-liberal capitalist system. The Canadian government is choosing to spend 1.4 billion dollars on subsidies to rich oil and gas companies and fueling climate change, instead of creating green jobs and investing in renewable energy infrastructure.

Whether it is the rapid expansion of the Tar Sands, mining, or shale gas, elites are putting profits of companies ahead of our future, with few benefits for people and communities. And as we rise up, governments are attacking workers, students, Indigenous people, and environmentalists; but as young people, we are creating change across the world, and we refuse to be silenced!

PowerShift is about shifting power from elites to the rest of us and from dirty fossil fuel energy to a just + sustainable future!

At PowerShift there will be caucuses for young workers, panels where the voices and perspectives of young workers are heard and skill-building workshops for participants from all backgrounds to stregthen their ability to mobilize in their communities.
